Apprentice and Lead Kiln Technician
All Kiln Services is a small ceramic kiln sales and repair company based in Huntingdon Valley, PA. We sell and repair electric and gas kilns for public schools, universities, arts organizations, and home studios. All Kiln Services is growing and is looking for both an apprentice kiln technician and an experienced lead kiln technician to join our growing team of 4 full and part-time employees. Kiln technicians will spend their days in school classrooms and artist’s studios inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and installing kilns and kiln vent systems. All new technicians begin with a training period of 6-12 months.
Essential Qualifications:
Above all, a candidate with a can-do attitude and attention to detail is of utmost importance. We believe anyone can learn even the most challenging processes and skills if they are motivated.
-Strong interest in kilns, ceramic studio equipment, and how things work mechanically.
-Valid driver’s license
-Pass all child abuse clearances and background checks to work in schools.
-Able to perform a variety of physical tasks, lifting, stretching, carrying, bending, etc.
-Experience with hand tools and power tools
-Ability to perform significant daily road travel (day trips, company vehicle)
-Dedication to excellence in your work
-Detail-oriented
-Self-motivated, and the ability to work independently and manage repairs alone (after training period)
-Commitment to professionalism and outstanding customer service
-A passion for working with your hands and a high level of workmanship and craftsmanship
-Familiarity with MAC/IOS, Microsoft, and basic computing, word processing, and email.
Preferred Qualifications:
-BFA or College level experience in the arts or ceramics, or equivalent experience
-Experience in the building trades, specifically electrical work, is a huge benefit: residential or commercial
-Basic understanding of electrician’s tools and electrical circuitry
-Experience driving a small van, or light-duty truck,.
-Understanding of multiple firing processes, the ceramic process.
-Experience fixing kilns
-Experience as a studio technician
-Experience as a teacher in ceramics

Compensation/Benefits/Schedule:
Hourly pay starts at $17.00 - $23.00 based on qualifications, experience and FTE status
Hours are Monday – Friday 9 – 5 with some flexibility

After introductory/training period, eligible for health benefits and PTO for FTE
